From courier to social media manager
My career as a social media manager began somewhere I never expected: at the door of a courier delivery. Back then I was building up capital and saving for the equipment to offer services in sports. A short chat at one doorstep changed everything.
That period
E-commerce taught me a lot. To build up the capital I needed to move toward what I really wanted, providing a service, I was working as a Yemeksepeti courier. My mind was made up: I would build something in sports. I was saving for a camera, an ad budget, and other equipment.
The Meta certificate
To learn the craft properly, I earned Meta's professional Social Media Marketing certificate on Coursera; I believed that if I was going to do a job, I should learn from the platform itself. The program was made up of six courses I completed between June and July 2024: • Introduction to Social Media Marketing • Social Media Management • Fundamentals of Social Media Advertising • Advertising with Meta • Measure and Optimize Social Media Marketing Campaigns • Meta Social Media Marketing Capstone
The coincidence at the door
One day I took an order to a door and the credit card wouldn't go through; I had to wait five minutes at the door for it to be retried. Meanwhile I noticed moving boxes in the building. I've always been a good salesperson, so with a bit of elevator talk I asked, 'Are you moving?' She said yes, and that she worked in social media, in an office setting. I told her I was raising capital through courier work and that, to do this properly, I'd started Meta's official trainings. Seeing how openly I shared, she said 'the universe sent you to me' and asked for my phone number.
Gözde Biber and what followed
At the time I was trying to find clients through coaching; thanks to that meeting, I landed my first social-media management job. Our first collaboration didn't last long, but she introduced me to Gözde Biber. We've been working together for two years now and have become like family. That coincidence also became the start of a whole journey of consulting different influencers over time.
